SEATING SERIES SAHIN

SAHIN series is a symbiosis of two methods - post-and-rung construction and paper cord weave. We are exploring simple seatings using material-based detail forming and legacy technology ethics.

Series consists of stool, bench, swing, counter stool, dining chair and armchair.

The seatings wooden construction is made by the green woodworking method. It is an old and clever technique where you take advantages of green wood, both in the processing and bending. The structural connection that makes this technique so special is the connection of wet and very dry detail as a joint. In this connection, moisture is transferred from wet wood to dry, which swells in the joint socket and creates an extremely strong and durable bond, with no need for artifical glues or screws. The backrest of the dining chair is steambent from fresh solid ashwood. The seating pad is handweaved from the durable and natural paper cord. With the SAHIN series, we explore alternative ways of sustainable master-based small production.
