Hi, we are Mirjam and Markus, partners in life and craft.
Designers and makers behind House of Pärnamets, a small studio shaped around family, making and everyday life.
We work with wood.
Guided by material, time and tradition.
Our practice brings together contemporary design and traditional woodworking techniques. Not as a reference, but as a way of working. Each piece begins with the material — its structure, its direction, its limits — and grows from there.
We believe that good objects are not designed to be replaced.
They are made to stay.
Our furniture is built slowly, by hand, using techniques that have been shaped over generations. These methods allow us to create strong, lasting structures while working with the natural qualities of wood, not against them.
Nothing is forced.
Nothing is excessive.
We use the material with care — taking as much as possible from each piece of wood, and leaving as little behind as we can. Larger forms define the object, while smaller parts continue in details or new pieces.
Alongside making, we share our knowledge through workshops.
We invite people to work with their hands, to slow down, and to experience the process of making something from start to finish.
For us, this is not only about objects.
It is about a way of working, a way of valuing, and a way of being in relation to materials and time.
As our family grows, so does our commitment to creating objects, skills and stories worth passing on.
We make pieces for everyday use.
With the intention that they last — and are passed on.
